Bad news. I'd hoped to secure a number of "Dirty Work"
DVDs for a special contest, but MGM was unwilling to send
them. Honestly, I'm a little surprised. They generously
provided a few copies of the movie for its VHS release, so I
naturally figured they'd help us out this time around. No
such luck. Such is life, I suppose ... but, I tried. -N!
[ NEWS ]
Aug. 30 (Upcomingmovies.com) -- Universal Pictures has
delayed the November 19th release of "Foolproof" (formerly
"Ballbusted" and "Pittsburgh"). The comedy was written and
directed by SCOTT ALEXANDER and LARRY
KARASZEWSKI who were the screenwriting team behind
"Ed Wood," "The People Vs. Larry Flynt" and the upcoming
ANDY KAUFMAN biopic "Man on the Moon." But it
appears Universal had doubts about the November release,
especially when faced with competition from the next
JAMES BOND picture, "The World is Not Enough," and
TIM BURTON's take on "[The Legend of] Sleepy Hollow."
Upcomingmovies.com's GREG DEAN SCHMITZ tells The
Fake News, "Considering the film's screenwriting lineage, it
does seem a good choice for a fall release, but Universal has
firmed up their fall schedule, and it's not there." He predicts
a spring premiere, as "it doesn't seem likely they're going to
hold onto it all the way to summer 2000. Of course, release
dates change on a nearly daily basis." The story of a
chauffeur who kidnaps his rich boss's dog stars Our Hero,
DAVE CHAPPELLE, DANNY DeVITO, SHERMAN
HELMSLEY and SARAH SILVERMAN. Longtime readers
of The Fake News will remember "Dirty Work" was
rescheduled a number of times. But, then, we all know what
a box office triumph that was.

This week ... Episode 9: "Norm, Crusading Social Worker"
-- When Norm's former hockey career becomes the brunt of
a joke on a sports show, he tries to reclaim his dignity by
asking the hockey board for permission to let him play in a
charity game. Denied because he hasn't done anything
worthy of reinstatement, he decides to take on a high-profile
case to prove them wrong. 78-year-old ABE VIGODA ("The
Godfather," "Barney Miller") guest stars as George Sullivan.

"Norm" tapings are scheduled for September 10, 17 and
October 1. As of presstime, tickets were still available for all

Thanks to "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" mania, the
following episodes have yet to be rerun: "Norm Dates
Danny's Dad," "The New Boss" and "Denby's Kid."
However, you'll get to see "Norm, Crusading Social
Worker" and "Norm's Coach" in the weeks prior to the
September 22 season premiere.

On average, 3 million fewer viewers have tuned in for
"Norm" reruns, as did for their initial airings (which
averaged 8.3 million).

"Bob & Brian" are on a Milwaukee radio station known as
"The Lazer" (WLZR 103 FM). Here we have another
telephone interview Norm did in promotion of "Dirty Work"
(whichd the same day.) Ah, the wacky world of
morning zoo, hearing guys like BOB MADDEN and BRIAN
NELSON really makes you appreciate the genius of
HOWARD STERN. As you listen to these clips, note the
over-zealous laughter of Bob and Brian -- even Norm
wonders aloud, "What?!" during one of their fevered belly
laughs (ESPY awards clip.)

cliffdiving. There's 'Grand Champion' and then, uh- 'Stuff
On a Rock.' Very hard to make a comeback in that sport, I'll
tell you that. It takes a lot of dedication."
