 May 28  The Fake News

The "thud" heard 'round the multiplex over the holiday weekend was the dismal debut of "Godzilla." The beast found the competition stole much of its anticipated thunder. And, with Jim Carrey's lauded "Truman Show" entering the blockbuster arena June 5th, MGM has rescheduled its little art film, "Dirty Work," for a June 12th release. The new slot is still dicey, with date films like "Can't Hardly Wait" and "A Perfect Murder" sharking the waters. Diligent Crack Whores will note, this isn't the first time MGM has scrubbed the movie's release. Will this be the last?

 May 24  The Fake News

In a truly perfect marriage of audiences, the "Dirty Work/South Park Tour" ended Saturday night in Seattle. The 5-city tour paired the standup comedy of Norm, and the phenomenally successful "South Park." Audiences screened a director's cut of "Cartman Gets An Anal Probe." Then Our Hero took the stage to wax funny about whatever folks wanted to hear. Judging by Crack Whores who've reported back, the shows were a hit. However, it remains to be seen how this roving "Dirty Work" pre-show will impact the film's box office.

 May 8  Dennis Miller Live

Dennis Miller was laughing so hard, you'd have thought he was going to spill his ever-present bottle of Evian. Norm helped mark the former High-Priest of Weekend Update's 100th show for HBO, along with David Spade (again). Our Hero used the word "cock" about a zillion times (actually only 18) while sharing his views on Viagra and George Michael's lavatory activities. For you fashion philes out there -- Norm ditched his normal talk show suit and tie for an ensemble from the Kurt Cobain collection. All-in-all, a killer appearance. Transcript and audio clips.

 May 5  New York Post

The notorious Quinnipiac gig resurfaced in the Post's "Page Six" column again. This time they quoted the college's Vice President for Student Affairs Lynn Bushnell: "Macdonald was clearly under the influence of something. His speech was slurred, he was mumbling, and even one of his own people tried to get him off stage ... Quinnipiac stands by its students and their right to expect a paid performer to show up sober and able to perform his show. If he was heckled, it was deserved because he incited them to do it." Considering the item appeared in a gossip column, The Fake News contacted Bushnell to confirm the story. Unfortunately, she opted to make "absolutely no comment" on Macdonald or the Post's story.

 May 1  The Late Show

Norm is clearly one of David Letterman's favorite guests (three visits in four months). Especially, if the guest scheduled to appear begs out at the last moment. Dave, celebrating his 1,000th Late Show, cackled giddily at Our Hero's stories of life after SNL: standup, porn movies and Broadway plays with mom. It was a fine appearance, with Norm a little less animated than he was a week prior on The Tonight Show. His nearly nonstop crisscrossing of North America might have something to do with that. Transcript and audio highlights.

 May 1  New York Post

Those imaginative folks at the NY Post have written about Norm's undeniably disastrous Quinnipiac gig (witnessed by the outcry of angry attendees in our NormForum). It was the lead item in the Post's "Page Six" gossip column, complete with unnamed sources and even a highly suspicious "quote" from Our Hero, "I was so traumatized ... I'll never perform for drunk people again as long as I live." According to the piece, there are two sides to the story. The first: Norm was drunk and unable to perform. The second: the students were the ones out of control. Take this "article" with a grain of salt.
