- - THE FAKE NEWS (EE#1) An e-zine for Norm Macdonald fans - - [ FROM THE EDITOR ] Welcome to the first Email Edition of "The Fake News." I hope you'll find it entertaining and a good resource for making the most of the magazine. This should be a fun week for fans, with the debut of "The Norm Show" on Wednesday ... and a whole slew of talk-show appearances scheduled. Regrettably, we requested an interview with the man himself, but as of late ABC publists haven't entirely helpful -- or even courteous. VIP lists for the remaining "TNS" tapings are booked. Audiences Unlimited's STEVE SHEETS asks that we remind everyone general admission seating may remain for April 1, 9, 16. Hopefully, those who could took advantage of AUI's generous offer to provide priority seating for our readers. A number of you have written requesting copies of our somewhat crappy, yet very cool Norm videos. Should your wit fail you in the Caption Contest, you can earn your copy by helping out. Specifically, there are a number of appearances that need transcription for our archive. Write if you're interested. Thanks for your continued support. -N! [ NEWS ] March 14 (The Fake News) -- Here's a chance to make some "Name That Tune" dough off your friends. Canadian troubadours DOUG AND THE SLUGS have landed their song "Too Bad" as "The Norm Show" theme. The spot was one of several in ABC's current rotation touting Norm's return to network television. But, wait, there's more. The official "TNS" website rolled out this week offering fans exclusive (which means, "Steal this stuff and we'll sue your butt!") cast photos and bios -- plus, a brief interview with the show's principals. Readers of Rolling Stone can even clip Norm's likeness from an advertisement and make their very own (almost life size) Norm Macdonald mask. Assuming one would want to do such a thing. Similar ads are running elsewhere. As the March 24 premiere nears, no doubt Norm will begin hitting the talk show circuit. But, until then, kudos to ABC's marketing folks. o View Promo 1: The Norm Song. http://www.thefakenews.net/n/v/TNSpromo_song.ram o View Promo 2: Screwed up. http://www.thefakenews.net/n/v/TNSpromo_screw.ram o View Promo 3: Wiener dog. http://www.thefakenews.net/n/v/TNSpromo_weiner.ram o View Promo 4: Chimps. http://www.thefakenews.net/n/v/TNSpromo_chimp.ram o Visit the official "The Norm Show" website. http://www.abc.go.com/primetime/norm_show/ -- Update: (AP) -- GEORGE JONES walked out of a hospital Friday, 13 days after a near-fatal crash.
